Saturday April 8 is Second Saturday Gallery Night in North East LA--and we'll be open from 7 to 10 pm. We'll have amazing art by local artist Peter Hess and Chicken Boy Shop will be open for souvenir & gift shopping. If you haven't visited N. Fig lately, we have lists of Places to Eat Around Here so you can make an evening of it. Of course, you can find map guides to the galleries and spaces exhibiting art in LA Art News, which you can also pick up at Future.
Artwork by Peter Hess constitutes a mini-survey with selections representing several decades from the 1980s to the present. Painted, carved, sculpted or printed; sometimes solemn, sometimes amusing, the pieces are diverse but unified by a consistent sensibility. Many have never been previously exhibited.
Originally from the Netherlands, Peter Hess has been in Los Angeles making art for many years. Along the way, his work has been shown in solo exhibitions at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Koplin Gallery and Avenue 50 Studio, among others. Group exhibitions have included the Long Beach Museum of Art, Laguna Art Museum, Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, Angel’s Gate Cultural Center, Purdue University and many others. In July he will debut new work in a solo show at Coagula Curatorial in Chinatown.
